Phytosanitary control

Plants, vegetable products and chemicals for agricultural use are subject to this control procedure.

Sanitary control

Living animals, animal products from third countries and non-animal products intended for human consumption are subject to border inspection.

Veterinary control

Animals, animal products, animal health products and products intended for animal consumption are subject to border inspection.

SOIVRE

SOIVRE is a commercial quality control procedure. This inspection is carried out on products, packages, containers and labels, and also on loading/unloading operations, stevedoring activities and storing, conditioning and transport procedures. Products subject to this quality control include but are not limited to shoes, furniture (sofas, chairs, office furnishing, cradles, bassinets, changing tables, etc.), toys, textile products (t-shirts, pants, swim suits, socks, underclothes, baby clothing, bed clothing, carpets, etc.), wooden floors and panels, sockets, vegetable oils, alcohols, sugar, cocoa, coffee, meat, cereals, canned food, nuts/dried fruit, fats, ice-creams, milks, honeys, potatoes, etc.

Inspections at PIF area (Inspection Point at the border)

PIF stands for “Inspection Point at the Border”. This area gathers in one single space all sanitary and non-sanitary border inspections to which goods are subject to. Its goal is to speed up control procedures at the border and facilitate the movement of goods through Port de Barcelona.

Fisheries product control

Products subject to this inspections include but are not limited to fresh, chilled and frozen fish, living fishes, filets and other fish meat, dried fish, salted fish, fish in brine, smoked fish, crustaceans, mollusks, etc.

Pharmaceutical control

Medicines intended for human consumption, pharmaceutical raw materials (intended for human consumptions), sanitary products, raw materials of human origin, cosmetics and products for personal care are subject to this inspection. This inspection is also carried out on vegetable raw materials (for cosmetics production) and biocides intended for clinical and personal use.

Control procedure to protect endangered species, avoiding exploitation practices that would impair their survival.
